Women in Rotary – 7th Episode
The Rotary Club of Patan, in collaboration with Radio Sagarmatha FM 102.4, continues its “Women in Rotary (Mahila Sanga Rotary)” radio programme, highlighting the achievements, journeys, and inspiring stories of women in society.
The 7th episode featured Ms Durga Kumari Tamang, an entrepreneur from Khaipu, Bungmati, who has successfully established herself in beekeeping. She started her business with just two beehives and, in less than two and a half years, expanded it to 21 hives. She has already sold 10 bee colonies and approximately 100 kg of honey, and now aims to expand her business to 100 hives.
Her story reflects courage, hard work, perseverance, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit. She now earns approximately NPR 400,000 annually from beekeeping and also generates additional income by making felt wool handicrafts.
The programme provides a platform to share such inspiring stories and encourage women towards entrepreneurship, self-reliance, and economic empowerment.
“Women in Rotary” is a joint initiative of the Rotary Club of Patan and Radio Sagarmatha and is broadcast every Monday from 7:30 AM to 8:00 AM on Radio Sagarmatha FM 102.4.
